Karma Traw, Cedar Ridge tenth grade student, is looking to set a record in the Guinness Book of World Records for “Most Origami Paper Dragons.” She has completed a whopping 1,000 paper dragons so far, with the number growing. “I really got into origami because of my mother,” says Traw. “She taught me the basics, and I kind of took off from there.” Karma started making boxes in her English class for people to “crash,” and after making 100 boxes as a joke, she switched to paper dragons. Once the origami collection started growing, the idea of setting a world record sparked her interest. Her collection is on display in a glass case in the High School Library.
